An intriguing leaf variation of Echeveria runyonii, which is a pale blue to white-blue leaf Echeveria with typically shaped leaves, is Echeveria runyonii cv. Topsy Turvy.  However, this 'Topsy Turvy' form is much more popular, so the 'regular' form is quite rare in cultivation. The extremely rare crested variant creates stunning, whimsically shaped silvery leaf rosettes and can take on a variety of intriguing shapes. The leaves can reach lengths of 7.5 cm and 2.5 cm. Blue-green to silvery-gray leaves that are frequently pink at the tips, spatulate, and heavily inversely keeled on the bottom surface. The leaves of this plant have some of the most unusual curling and twisting patterns among the Echeverias, appearing to be upside down.

Propagation:

Echeveria runyonii cv. Topsy Turvy f. cristata can tolerate sun or shade, but in general, the more light a plant gets, the better it will show off its colors and shape. But when moving plants from lower light to full sun, be careful of sunburn. This is easiest to avoid by making sure plants are well-watered before moving them on a cloudy day. They can handle long periods of dryness and survive drought without being watered, but they will grow stronger if they get enough water during their growing season. Don't let the plant get too wet, though (they are root rot sensitive). Use very porous soil that will drain quickly. Slow-release fertilizers with a low to moderate amount of nitrogen are enough for the spring and summer growing seasons, and no more fertilizer would need to be added until the spring. Pests and diseases are less likely to happen when there is good airflow, and it is important to avoid too much humidity in the cool winter months if you want to grow Echeveria in a nursery environment. It can handle light frosts, but it does best at 5-10 °C.
With the cooler temperatures of fall, the colors of their leaves tend to be more vivid than during the busy summer growing season.
